The holiday season is here! Red, green and white decorations are lightening up Brisbane’s street. The Lord Mayor already put up his 22m Christmas tree, which means the Festive season has officially begun. With this exciting season, Brisbane City is ready to entertain you with free Christmas Events in December!


1. Gold Lotto City Hall Lights

Gold Lotto City Hall Lights is taking place at night on King George Square. It is playful of Aussie Christmas tale that comes to life via animation with interactive lighting display. The event will run from 6 December to 24 December 2019 and it runs every fifteen minutes from 7.30 pm-midnight. It is a brand new experience that will entertain you and your family, so don’t miss out on the unique event!

2. Brisbane Christmas Parade
Santa and its crew are coming to town. The annual Brisbane City Christmas Parade will march from Edward St through to the Queen Street Mall through King George Square. Santa and its crew will entertain you with music and dance performances. The event takes place each night from 13 December to 22 December at 7:00 pm.

3. Christmas Firework Brisbane
On 20 December to 23 December, South Bank will watch the sky lit up with fireworks to celebrate this festive event. So, grab your picnic mat and best camera to seize the moment. If South Bank seems too crowded for you, there are other recommended viewing places such as Clem Jones Promenade (no chairs or other types of portable seating are permitted), Streets Beach, River Qual and the Cultural Forecourt.

4. 2020 NYE Fireworks: Brisbane

Let’s close the decade with some sparks and togetherness. Again, pack up your picnic mat and your best camera for New Years Eve Fireworks on South Bank. Be prepared with the mass crowd on the parkland but mostly don’t forget to enjoy the moment because a new decade is coming with new hopes, dreams and wishes!
